




The Last Dog
Peter is in his 70’s. He is a support worker and artist, assisting people with special needs. His dog has just died and Peter decides he will never own another canine in his lifetime.
However, a friend takes him to view a litter of Saint Bernard puppies. Peter falls in love with one, buys it on the spot, and names it Hawthorn.
Hawthorn transforms Peter’s life, enriching him and his community in many ways.

Gavin Shaw has been passionate about movies since childhood. He majored in filmmaking at York University in Toronto, Canada. He directed a short documentary called Cinemall that was screened in Toronto and several other venues in 2012. The Last Dog is his first feature length documentary. In addition to directing The Last Dog, Gavin also edited, photographed and did the sound.
The Last Dog was an official selection at the THIN LINE FEST in Denton, Texas where it won JURY AWARD - TRUTH MEETS ART: DOC FEATURE "THE LAST DOG”
Carlo Carosi is a Toronto based musician who mixes self-taught know-how with obsessive music-library knowledge. His work on The Last Dog soundtrack is the culmination of years of experience working with independent filmmakers as well as writing and performing various genres of ambient and folk music. Other notable works include music composed for Here I Stand, a documentary about astronaut Chris Hadfield's rise to interstellar fame and Gavin Shaw's Cinemall.
